Travel Journal: Paris

Back in late September a girls weekend was spent in beautiful Paris. Remember? I thought it would be cute to have little journals for us girls to plan our days and also as a diary to write down what we did. And because I was so happy about the notebooks, I decided to make one myself. I thought I'd share the journal with all of you. Maybe you're going to Paris sometime in the future and could use a cute little journal like this. You can download the journal here. Of couse it's free.

How to do it:  

Print the first page of the journal on thicker paper with borderless print: this will be your cover. Now print pages 3-22 as a brochure (this is a setting in your printer) with 2 pages per paper and duplex (which means you print front and backside) on normal paper. The little french guide is translated to german only, if you want to skip this, do not print those sides. Lastly, put your cover in your printer again. Now you print the backside of your cover (check how your printer works to find out how you have to put the paper into the printer). Print pages 2 and 23 of the journal on the backside of the cover with the 2 pages per paper setting. Make sure the page 2 will be printed on the backside exactly where the Eiffel tower is on the front. When you're done printing, fold all pages and sew together. All the graphics I used in the journal are from the graphics fairy. The city map is a print from google maps. And the metro map is from here. Please only use the journal for personal purposes.

And there is one more thing I have to tell you about this journal. Do you remember I said I did only one thing fashion-related during Paris Fashion Week? Well, we went to the book signing of Scott Schuman (the Sartorialist) and got his book 'Closer' signed as a birthday gift for A (which is why I couldn't tell you about it). He was really nice and also signed our little girly journals, which makes mine even more special to me. But let me tell you, after getting up at 3 am, a 4 hour trainride and hours of sightseeing in Paris the three of us really looked like crap. I felt horribly underdressed ;-)

I have been thinking about making a few photobooks for quite a while now, and when I saw the amazing one that Stef over at magnoliaelectric made, I had to give it a try. Mine is not near as perfect and pretty (hers I would buy instantly if I saw it in the shop - it really is that awesome), but I think it's ok for my first try.

So, da ist nun mein erstes Fotobuch. Nachdem ich das unglaublich tolle Werk von Stef von magnolialectric gesehen habe wollte ich das lang gehegte Vorhaben, auch mal Fotobücher zu erstellen, endlich in die Tat umsetzen. Es ist bei Weitem nicht so schön und professionell geworden wie Stef's (ihres würde in der Buchhandlung direkt in meiner Einkaufstüte landen), aber für mein erstes Buch bin ich ganz zufrienden.

Und falls es euch interessiert, hier ein Erfahrungsbericht (auf Deutsch).
Bestellt habe ich mein Fotobuch bei Lidl. Ich wollte für mein erstes Buch nicht direkt so was wahnsinnig Teures nehmen. Da ich aber auch nichts wollte, was beim ersten blättern auseinanderfällt, habe ich mich für das Hardcover entschieden.

Software und Bestellung:
Bei Lidl kann man sich eine Software runterladen mit der man die Bücher auch offline erstellen kann. Leider fand ich die nicht besonders flexibel in der Anordnung der Fotos (aber vielleicht habe ich mich auch nicht lange genug eingearbeitet - ich bin bei sowas eher ungeduldig). Beim Erstellen der Bücher online konnte ich dann aber alles so umsetzen wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte. Schade fand ich, dass man nur eine sehr kleine Auswahl an Schriftarten hatte (ich habe meine dann als Bilder eingefügt). Die Bedienung fand ich recht intuitiv, manchmal waren die eigentlich als Hilfe gedachten Funktionen (wie das Erkennen und Angleichen der Position von den Bildern... hmm... ich weiss nicht wie ich das anders beschreiben soll...) etwas hinderlich, wenn man nicht alle Bilder an gleicher Position und in gleicher Größe haben wollte.
Unbedingt darauf achten sollte man, dass man das Werk regelmäßig zwischenspeichert, wie ich leidvoll erfahren musste. Der Vorteil ist dann auch, dass bei der Bestellung schon alles gespeichert und nichts mehr lange transferiert werden muss. Das geht dann echt fix.


Lieferung und Ausführung:
Das Buch kam ganz genau nach den in der Bestellungsbestätigung versprochenen 7 Werktagen an.
Insgesamt bin ich ganz zufrieden. Die Bilder sind farbecht abgedruckt, das Papier ist nicht zu dünn. Leider habe ich auf manchen Seiten den Eindruck, dass das Layout verrutscht ist. Also dass unten zB weniger Rand ist als ich eigentlich haben wollte. Da bin ich nicht sicher, ob sich da aufgrund meiner Schwierigkeiten mit der Software etwas verschoben hat, oder ob da die Seiten nach dem Druck falsch abgeschnitten wurden. Nicht so gut gefällt mir auch das glänzende Cover (die Innenseiten sind schön matt) und dass die ersten paar Seiten nach dem Einband weiss sind, obwohl ich bei allen anderen Seiten schwarzen Hintergrund gewählt habe.
Insgesamt bin ich zwar ganz zufrieden, möchte aber gerne auch noch andere Anbieter testen.


Vielleicht habe ich ja auch ganz großes Glück und gewinne einen Gutschein bei Cinebook. Die Stef veranstaltet nämlich gerade ein Gewinnspiel, bei dem man unter Anderem einen solchen Gutschein gewinnen kann. Natürlich würde ich mich aber auch über jeden der anderen Gewinne freuen.

Liebe Leute, ich kann mich doch nie entscheiden! Ehrlich! Das ist ein ernstes Problem bei mir. Nun soll man aus den unzähligen tollen Schuhen auf zalando.de ein einziges Lieblingspaar auswählen, und dies auf seinem Blog posten, um an dem sagenhaften Gewinnspiel teilzunehmen. (1. Hmm, also eigentlich wollte ich ja schon ewig neue Biker Boots. Und diese sind echt schön.

Diese würden ja super zu meinem Blog passen, wobei die hier außergewöhnlicher sind.

Kürzlich habe ich meine Schlaghosen wiederentdeckt. Da würden solche Heels natürlich toll zu passen.

Die hier sind ein Traum zum ausgehen oder Cocktails schlürfen.

Solche Stiefeletten wollte ich ja eigentlich auch schon immer haben. Oder solche!

Aber letztendlich erkläre ich dann doch diese schlichten Schnürstiefeletten zu meinen Lieblingen. Ja, sie sind nicht so auffällig wie einige der oberen Modelle. Aber sie passen zu fast allem. Egal ob Rock oder Hose. Besonders zu einem wadenlangen Rock und Schlapphut stelle ich sie mir toll vor. Der Absatz hat genau die richtige Höhe. Und schwarz - naja, schwarz passt eben auch immer. 

Ja, ich habe mich entschieden. Oder????? ;)

be my valentine

Valentines day...I never really know what to think about it. While I love the idea of a day secretly sending little messages and presents to your chrush, I believe it has become way too comercialized. Plus I think it's the little gestures in everyday life that show how much you appreciate and love a person. What does a giant bouqet of flowers with the finest chocolates on one single day mean, if you don't feel loved in everyday life?

Still, in the spirit of St. Valentine I made a few collages with some of my favourite love quotes for you to enjoy.
