confessions

Ok, so much for theory. In reality I went shopping last week. To the sales. Yes. And what happens at the sales? You buy stuff you don't need and are not going to wear. Seriously, sales are EVIL sometimes!
I did really well tought, until I saw this beautiful embroidereded jacket at the swede. Market down from close to 100 to a mere 15€! I couldn't really believe it, especially since I had been eying it since october. So it was time for me to try it on. And you already guess the misery: it just didn't look good on me. The cut - just wrong.
 H&M
So what did I do? Right: I bought it anyway!
What is it about a seriously marked down price that just completely turns your brain off?
Well, I ended up returning the jacket a few days later, but man, that was really hard work. Even at the counter I was almost about to take it back and keep it. So crazy!
Anyway, I managed to return it and got some really reasonable pieces instead:
dress and black blazer: H&M; headbands: New Yorker

How about you? Have you been to the sales yet? And do you also get fooled by low prices, or is it just me?

in 2010

As I said, I really want to change my shopping habits this year. So I figured, to prevent myself from buying things I don't really need (or rather: will not likely wear), it might be helpful to go through everything I bought in 2010 and see what were good buys. You know - those things you end up wearing really often.
So here they are:
from left to right: H&M; Primark; H&M; Primark
New Yorker; H&M; Promod; DIY from H&M tank
vintage from fleamarket; H&M; Mango via Ebay
 H&M; Primark
 H&M; Primark
Jewellery: DIY agate ring; DIY amethyst ring; asos claw ring & bracelet; ebay crystal ring;
six leaf ring; vintage from my mom watch; Primark bird ring

Yeah, I know...not a lot of colour...
Not pictured: basic T's in black and white as well as black tights

Btw: I obviously bought a lot more last year, and I'm not saying those were all bad buys, I just picked what I am (or have been last year) wearing really, really frequently.

Gave space nails a try, and have to admit I'm really in love!

Looking at this reminds me to wear my beauiful sheepfur vest again, once it gets a tad warmer

359 days

359 days left of 2011. Here are my wishes and resolutions for the new year.

+ this includes:
   - carefully choose what I buy (Do I really need the
100th black sweater? Does it go with my body type? Is it
suitable for work? If not: when exactly and how often will I
     be able to wear it?)
   - try to avoid synthetics
   - limit the number of shoes and bags (If I really want a new
one, an old one has to go!)
   - DIY more often (made-to-measure AND unique)
   - buy classic rather than trendy pieces
   - last but not least: be creative and try to build
new outfits from what is already in my wardrobe

savoir-vivre

cardigan: New Yorker; shirt, skirt, necklace: H&M; tights, belt: Primark; boots: vintage

I've been to Zurich for two days this week. It was a business-trip and sadly I only had a short lunchbreak one day to take a look around this charming city and grab some macarons at Ladurée. Delicious! But to be honest, the ones I made myself were just as good (and a lot cheaper!!).

goodbye hello
